Cruelty Free in 2017

Now, I know I said I was going to try and steer away from beauty posts this year. However, building a cruelty-free make-up routine has been one of my aims for a while now. Last year I decided to become vegetarian (well I do eat fish every now and then, but I do try to avoid it...). Anyway, for the most part I'm veggie and I just felt guilty, that I don't eat animals but I'm using make-up products that test on them. On the other hand, throwing away all of my non-cruelty free make-up felt like a huge waste, so I decided to use them up, then replace them with cruelty free products instead.

I know this can be quite a sensitive subject for some people and I'm not in any means trying to say that people who don't buy cruelty free are bad people, because that would be really hypocritical of me - just the other day I finished my Make-up For Ever foundation! Some brands, such as Urban Decay, are owned by other big brands such as L'Oreal who do test on animals. However as a brand themselves they don't, it doesn't really make sense to me and I guess you can make your own mind up whether you still want to buy from them or not. But personally I respect brands like Urban Decay for even attempting to be cruelty-free and stock vegan products as I don't feel like enough brands do.
This is basically my everyday look - I recently picked up the Nars Sheer Glow foundation (which I love so much by the way!) I got shade Light 2 Mont Blanc. Then I use the Nars Creamy Concealer under my eyes. I'm currently obsessed with the Zoeva eyeshadows, I got the Plaisir Box for Christmas and all the shades are so dreamy and so pigmented. Then I use the Kat Von D tattoo liner - which I haven't got on in this photo but I promise you it's good. Then, I'm currently using the Urban Decay Perversion mascara on my lashes. As always, I'm using the Anastasia Brow Wiz, it's awesome and I wouldn't use anything else. Finally, for bronzer and blusher I'm currently using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting edit. This is such a pretty and brilliant multi-use product. Again, not wearing it in this photo however, I'm currently loving this Colour Pop lipstick, I have the shade Monday and it's just the best matte liquid lipstick I've ever tried!

So there you go! I really wanted to do this post because when I first decided to start making my beauty routine cruelty-free it felt intimidating and like I was limited to only a few brands. However more and more brands are making the decision to go cruelty-free, which is amazing. If you want some more inspiration Cruelty Free Kitty is the go-to blog, she's so clued up - this is a list of her approved cruelty free brands!
