A Cute Little Catchup

I haven't done a catch-up post in a while and I just thought it was kind of long over due... The other week I finished my first year of university... what?! That just flew by, as soon as I felt like I was sort of finding my feet and getting the hang of things, poof it was over. Typical. Anyway, I've loved this year, I love my course. It's everything I thought it would be and I can't wait to get stuck into year two. Not too soon though, I am excited for summer and to have a break as well.

Hopefully this is going to be a good summer. I have a couple of things planned that I'm really excited for such a V-Festival, I'm only going for the day (I just can't do camping, I'm an utter wimp, soz) but I'm still looking forward to it. I've also booked tickets to go to Australia in September, to visit my uncle and auntie but I'm flying on my own so I'm both nervous and so, so excited. I've wanted to go to Australia for so long and I can't wait to finally get out there, eek!

As well as that, I really want to get stuck into my blog again. I've just got a problem that whenever I get stressed and have multiple things on my mind, I just kind of put it all to the back of my head and ignore it until I absolutely have to face it. If that makes sense. Anyway, I've got a bit of uni work to do over the summer but nothing too stressful. So I'm going to try and focus most of my attention towards my blog. I love this little space. Even though I don't get like a gazillion views or anything, I still like putting posts together and improving my content.

With that in mind, I'd really like to invest in a new camera. I love my Nikon DSLR and don't know where I'd be without it. But when I'm going somewhere and want to take a camera with me, the thought of lugging that heavy thing around puts me off and I end up just resorting to my iPhone. So I'd like something of a similar quality but lighter, if ya get my drift. So if you have any recommendations then that'd be great. I currently have my eye on the Olympus Pen, but I've heard very mixed reviews...

  1. Very jealous of you going to Australia, I've just come back to blogging as exams have caused me way to much stress. Have you looked at the Canon EOS M (i think it's called that), it's just a suggestion.

    1. Yeah it's sometimes difficult to juggle them both together, but I guess a bit of a break is good as well because you can come back more inspired! And ooh thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely check it out!

  2. You're going to looove Australia it's so beautiful here! What part of Australia are you going to? For cameras I've heard that the Sony RX100 and Canon G7X are really good :) x

    1. Ah good, I can't wait! I'm going to Perth but I also really want to visit Sydney for a few days! And that's great thank-you, I've heard of the G7X but not the Sony one, so I'll definitely have a look, thank you! x

  3. I did a lot of research into good cameras for travelling/blogging purposes. I looked at the Olympus Pen but ended up preferring the Olympus EM10 because I like having the built in viewfinder (especially when taking photos in bright light outdoors) You can buy a seperate viewfinder and attach it to the Pen but its quite expensive and I'd rather it was just permanently attached. I've been extremely happy with my choice and would really recommend it. My shoulders are also much happier not having to drag around my heavy Canon DSLR.

  4. Tried a few different cameras. I have a canon g7x and my mum has a nikon d800 and Olympus pen. Having tried them all out over a period of time, would defiantly say the pen wins. Not sure what you budget is, but would defiantly recommend the 45mm or 75mm lens to go with it. http://confettilayers.com

    1. Ah that's great! Yeah I've heard the Olympus pen is good but I just want to be sure that it's worth the money before I invest! I'll also take a look at those lenses, thank you! x

  5. Woo we are doing Aus at the end of the year and really excited! The flight is a right pain but I've done it many times alone so it is definitely doable, the jetlag is the worst part for sure!

    1. Ah good that's a relief to here, I'm so worried about flying by myself! But I'm sure it'll be worth it once I get out there! x

  6. I don't think I could cope with camping at a festival either. In fact I don't know if I could cope with a festival. The mud and rain frightens me.
